ÉTABLISSEMENTS VILATTE HEADQUARTERS IN MASSY

The project breaks with the traditional image of business parks areas, through its architectural and landscape quality.

Paris Sud Aménagement is one of the main Île-de-France region developers and oversees the whole Massy area. Massy Europe Business Park embodies its ambition to create a new business park model, in which industrial, logistics and company headquarters buildings are defined by high-quality architecture, surrounded by a dense landscape. The new headquarters of the Établissements Georges Vilatte, a family-owned timber trading company, are in the heart of this area. The building comprises working spaces (offices and workshops), a showroom, and logistics areas (warehouse, distribution and supply area, technical areas). Our project is therefore a building that goes beyond the image of a traditional industrial warehouse. The building echoes the Cartesian composition of the Business Park and is materialized by large slender wooden porticoes punctuating all the facades. The choice of GLULAM as a structural material is naturally a nod to the customer’s activities. It is also the best answer to the program, requiring large scope, obstacle-free storage spaces, and to the ambitions of Paris Sud Aménagement aiming to obtain environment (HQE) certification for tertiary buildings. The entire frame remains visible on the façades and inside. It also marks the three programmatic entities • the whole showroom/offices/workshops, visible from the public road; • the large volume of storage of raw products; • distribution and supply canopy, covered/open spaces linking the first two spaces while housing the technical rooms. Between the wooden porticoes, different materials define the façades, according to the various programs: metal curtain and transparent glazing facades, translucent façades in opalescent reinforced glass profile or opaque façades in double metallic skin. The roof complex brings together all the different activities in a single and coherent architectural ensemble.
